Encompass Health to build inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Danbury, Connecticut

Encompass Health has announced plans to construct a 40-bed freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Danbury, Connecticut, US.

The hospital will provide care to patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopaedic conditions.

Besides 24–hour nursing care, the hospital will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies to help patients restore their functional ability and quality of life.

The hospital will be served by specialised nurses, therapists and physicians.

Besides all private patient rooms, the hospital will feature a spacious therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies and an activities-of-daily-living suite, dining room, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.

Encompass Health’s Northeast region president Pat Tuer said: “We are excited to expand our services to Connecticut and become an integrated part of the local healthcare system to provide residents with access to rehabilitative care, closer to home.

“We intend to provide significant value to this community by helping patients regain the strength and function needed to reach their highest level of independence.”

This hospital will be a part of Encompass Health’s national network of rehabilitation hospitals, and the first in Connecticut.

Encompass Health owns and operates 157 hospitals in 37 states and Puerto Rico.

This latest announcement comes days after Encompass Health opened a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital in Clermont, Florida.
